Pumping the gaspedal on a fuel injected car does NOTHING.
Not like the " good old " carbureted days.
I would start by checking spark first ( which you have done now ) & persue the weak spark you're getting.
A good quality spark is normally blue in color.
You may want to get somebody to investigate the spark scenario with an ignition scope.
