It is a combination of high rate springs, stiff bushings, large anti-sway bars and firm shocks that create the buckboard ride. In my opinion, the rear shocks are too firm and cause a large percentage of the harsh ride. The front shocks are also firm but seem to be closer to the "correct" (if you will) damping rate. Just my opinion. I now own an '01 E320 wagon that I have lowered (see the details at my gallery page on this site). I am happy with the ride/handling trade off with this car but keep in mind that my wagon has rear self leveling suspension and stock (not Sport or AMG) bushings. Mark
