Thanks Tomnik that is a realy helpfull tutorial. Unfortunatly I was looking at the right mark on the cam. I turned the motor several times but the cam still will not put the crank anywhere near TDC. I wonder if the person who had this motor before me took the harmonic balancer off and put it on wrong???

I found that the bolts where loose and the sound gave me an awful fright. Although the motor does not shake or vibrate. I retightened/replaced them but the pully still seems to wobble just a bit. If I am not mistaken there is a keyway in the crank so it can only go on one way. (if it is anything like other cars I have worked on) I gess I will have to look in to it. Unless anyone has a better idea.
