Just over the last few weeks, my brakes have been squealing. I took the car into a shop, they looked at my brakes, with wheels on, through the hub view. They can see the rotors have the normal Mercedes problem (yet another one of their problems) of having a ridge around the outside of the rotors, where the pads don't hit the rotor. He said the pads have plenty wear left on them, the squeal is yet another gift from Mercedes; they and Volvo are the leaders in brake squeal as he tells it. The back brakes haven't been checked yet.

Today I was driving along, and the ABS light came on. Scared the crap out of me, as I think stopping is a wonderful thing. I kept driving as I was late for an appointment, and couldn't get off the road anyways. After my appointment, I looked through my manual, and was pleased to read that if the ABS light comes on, the brakes work normally, just the ABS is out. The ABS light came on when the key was turned on, as it was supposed to. When I restarted the car, no ABS light was on, as it normally should, and it hasn't come back on since, as though all is well. I'm guessing whatever problem it had while driving, it reset itself upon startup. Anyone know about what the problem might be? Maybe it was a one-time thing.
