Take a bit of clay or like substance & make the shape you think feels best. Then using this as a templet, modify the ball. Instead of varnish, try bowling alley wax. I use this on gun stocks and have a great grip even in cold, rainy, duck days. Any good alley will give you a dab in the off hours & you will allways have a good grip on your woody.
