The 98 used two different brake switches and you will need the Vin # to get the correct one. Mine has two switches and a 4-pin connector. Later units use a 6 pin connector. On mine, one set was normally open, the other set was normally closed. They are about $14 when purchased though someone like our list host above.
The switch is mounted to the brake pedal bracket, just above the the brake pedal arm. squeezing the release and rotating 1/4 turn clockwise will put the bugger in your hand.
Do your brake lights work? If the switch was the problem, replacing it will turn the ETS light off. Also check your fluid level in the master cylinder, as normal wear of the brake pads will consume some of the fluid volume in the master cylinder. I always bump the car until I can see the fluid move as the dirt line can fool you.
