The CDI is still fairly new here so may be wrong, but, it looks like it still uses some plastic fuel lines that rely on o-ring seals like the OM606.96x used.

Your problems sound like the beggining phases of air entering the system. Phase two is no start and fuel leaks developing.

Check the lines for minute bubbles and if found replace o-rings or the lines themselves.
