Usually, a catalytic reaction creates tremendous heat. Somehow, I do not think that is a good idea on a fuel line, especially on a gasser.

If you do a temp reading on a catalytic converter on a gasser, you will find higher temps there than any other part of the exhaust system. Knew a girl who parked her car in tall grass, and left the engine running. About 5-10 min later, that car was a total loss. The grass in contact with the converter ignited accordingto the FD.
