Hi, i have a 98 e320 with the antenna embedded in the back window. I have been getting very poor AM reception with this car's radio. I think the signal input of these built-in antenna's really weak.

I am thinking of getting a retractable antenna found in the older benz like the 1995 C280. Maybe a fully extended antenna will improve the AM reception.

Has anyone ever done a mod like this? I will probably have to drill a hole on the body panel in order to insert the antenna mast. But i would like info if anyone's ever done it on their later model benz (the ones without any stubby little antenna on the roof).
