Didn't you know that the guv'ment owns your body? What part of the Constitution have yoiu NOT been reading? It has certainly claimed ownership of women from the beginning. Insofar as what you ingest, anything was perfectly legal until the beginning of the 20th century (circa 1910 or so). if you could smoke it, chew it or swallow it, it was your business.
It was, I think on of Teddy Roosevelt's less shining moments when those laws were passed.
