I haven't heard much about sexual abuse among the Amish. Maybe it happens, I dunno. I have heard that they encourage their youth to go out into the world to live for a year or so to find out if they really want to stick with the Amish life. They seem to be enduring as a subset.
Did anybody catch the story about the Westborough Baptist Church saying they were going to protest at the funeral?? I heard a bit about it on MSNBC.
I heard some preacher on the radio yesterday, didn't catch the context, saying "this was NOT God's will!" apparently countering the sentiments of the Amish in question, who
AFAIK, at least have said that God allowed this, now they must find the strength to forgive. They've already reached out to the killer's family. Amazing. I hope she and the kids convert and live among them.
Maybe the guy I heard on the radio is part of the Westb. Baptist crowd. But it's hard to believe that some other Christians would be crass enough to try to get into an arguement on God's will at the funeral.
