Ok. Here's an update. It looks like the idea to build it myself is going to be easy!

I've got some great ideas now... this rocks.
The reason I need to degas silicon is that when you mix/stir it you often introduce air bubbles. Air bubbles on the surface of the casting isn't good. There are ways to pour the rubber (high and thin) to try and eliminate air... but I want top-quality results on a cheapo dime.

Thanks for brainstorming this with me, it really made me take a second look at it.
The pump is the easy part, my buddy is lending me his automotive a/c vac. pump for the purpose of my trials (to pull 29.9)
I've got some rubber coming to test (some needs to be degassed, some claims it doesn't)...
So the fun starts soon.
