I have a S&W 9mm that I bought off a broke doper about 30 years ago. Great pistol. Paid the equivalent of $50. Also have a couple of .22 pistols, one that I used for squirrel hunting (High Standard with a bull barrel) until I needed reading glasses to see the damned rear sight!
If I buy another pistol it will be some version of the 1911 Colt in .45 cal. I used one in the military and never fired a run-of-the-mill pistol that was more accurate at 50 ft. It also makes a large hole in whatever it hits.
