Thanks MB Doc -

Just a bit of confusion:

1. Press and hold the "REST" button for ~3 seconds
2. ?? Continue holding the "REST" (?) button until the display switches to "inaktiv"
3. ?? Release both (?) buttons
4. Press the passenger side (RED) to reactivate the display
5. Press the "REST" button again

In #2 did you mean the "0" (off) or "EC" button to hold as well as "REST" - This CC only has one "REST" button (see attached)

FWIW I haven't done anything with the battery - and this usually happens after we've been driving for some time (say > 1hr on the road - not right away at startup)
