It is sort of sad, but think of how many times a dui offender has driven drunk and NOT been caught. A friend of mine back in college was the sole survivor of a head on crash that killed his entire family driving home on Christmas day when he was four years old. The other driver was drunk and hit them head on, they were in a early '70s Olds Vista Cruiser station wagon. IMHO, first time dui offenders should have the interlock. The penalties are a joke, and are a huge revenue generator for the attorneys, judicial system, and insurance companies.
