I have to assume that Mercedes U.K. has the ability to verify year, make, model, colour, options, etc. upon presentation of the chassis number. If you have concerns about the honesty of your dealer, I assume that MB has a regional factory representative and/or a customer service telephone number that could be helpful.

I wouldn't be surprised if an error was made by the entity in charge of issuing registration papers.
