Note that the C280 has the M104 4-valve inline 6 through 97 and the M112 3-valve V6 from 98. From what I've read, and this should be confirmed, the M112 is more fuel efficient and generally more robust than the M104. Being a V configuration, it probably requires timing chain attention more frequently than the M104.
