Still (here it comes), the right has shown more aggression in the recent past. Rush Limbaugh has been far more aggressive in dissing, demonizing the other side, the dreaded liberals.
At its heart, right wing-ism is generally more concerned with the right to do whatever the hell you want in pursuit of profit whereas the dang lefties tend to lean towards finding an equitable balance. There are plenty of corrupt Dems however. I'm not that naive.
I'm not buying any excusing of power grabbing with the notion that the other side would do it if given the chance. The downward spiral of morality and ethics needs to be arrested.

Like I said, today they are in power and they will do all they can to stay that way. Tomorrow, if the other side gets into power, being as immoral as they are, they would also try for the same brass ring. That is why I am rooting for a Dem this time. We had 8 yrs of Clinton, 8 of Bush so 8 of a Dem would be good. That way, the current can swing the pendulum all the way to the other side and then the first side can swing it all the way back. Hopefully, their actions cancel each other out to some extent. Yes, it would be nice to have a bunch of moderates from both sides but that doesn't seem to be the case today.
If I believed that, I would say that it would be best to be left wing all the time. However, I don't believe that the left wing is always trying to make things equitable. In any case, life isn't fair. Assuming you equaled everybody today, in 100 years, we would be back at this same spot because some will try harder than others. I don't honestly believe that one party is bad while the other is as good as you say. I feel they are both bad and we vote for Mr LOTE. Lessor of Two Evils. Otherwise, Dems would be the only choice for a vote since all they want is to make a equitable balance. Do you really believe the left wing wants to do only that and make paradise on earth? Having achieved that they can sustain it too? I don't think so
And who would arrest this downward spiral? You? And what army? Another 100 senators and 435 House reps? OK, lets say you do. Think these 535 people won't be corrupted again? Can't help it. Such is life because it is run by human beings. Soon as they get in, they will be corrupted and we will start again at square 1. It is not an excuse. It is just a fact of life. I built my house one way and now the sun shines in and wakes me up before I want to because the bedroom window is facing East. That too is a fact of life.
