I didn't take anything from your post personally, no offense taken. I haven't been chortling about the election or Rumsfeld's change in status, I'm just skeptical and more than a little cynical about the White House's stated motives for his departure.

I don't think it has anything to do with GW's perception of Rumsfeld's job performance or ability (or lack thereof). It's about perception by the public and the troops. That's what I heard GW say (didn't I?) and I believe him.
