Maybe I should have had kids. Then I can have excuses for everything I do that is wrong.
Kids or no kids it has NOTHING to do with the fact that I decide on something and I don't change it just because it now is against me. When I was an immigrant seeking citizenship, it would be nice if they just opened the doors and let everyone in. However, I realized that wasn't a good idea at all. I never rooted for easier entry into the USA. I didn't then and I don't now even when it would have made my life easier then. I understood that things needed to be the way they were because they don't want to allow undesirables into the country and that was that. As a H1 visa holder, I understood that the country needed to make sure it wouldn't take away jobs and I understood that they needed to make me post my job in a public place for 10 working days. I understood why they had all the hoops for me to jump thru then and I did support it then. Now that I am past the hoops, I still support them because I thought then that they were a good idea and I still do. I didn't change my stand because I was going thru it then and now I am not. BTW, naturalization has been my goal for 30 years so it wasn't just something I thought up to do because the sun was shining.
So yes, while I don't have kids, I really don't see how that changes anything. I make it a policy not to flip-flop just because now the deck is stacked against me and at the time it wasn't. Is that what parents do? They support or are against one thing in the past but now that they are parents and it makes their lives more difficult they change their opinion?
