I'm going through the same thing with my 1995 E300D. My rear inners have worn exactly as you described, can't even drive it in the rain until I get new tires on it (today or tomorrow, finally).
I had the alignment done, and I've got new rear shocks to help bring the butt up a bit, but I've gone over all the bushings (subframe, in particular) to check for too much wear and can find nothing wrong with the rear.
When asking for advice among people who used to own w124s, the answer was "That's just they way those w124s are. You have to buy new tires when it happens."
Not what I wanted to hear, either...
