They still arent as fat as we are getting though.

We’ve had our share of steak pies (without the kidney). But absolutely no kidney pies, eel pies or liver pies are allowed at this house. Treacle pies (They’re open faced tarts actually) are, but we often substitute molasses.
For health conscious reasons, DJ doesn’t get into a lot of the foods from the “mother land”. Too much frying and fats just ain’t right, and she (thank God) knows it. We do go through a ***** LOAD of tea here though.

We were watching an episode of “Two Fat Ladies Cooking” one day some time ago, and one of the gals had lined a bowl with bacon, then filled it with potato chunks and such. Popped it in the oven to bake. I’d bet it tasted great, but DJ mentioned something to the effect of “That’s gotta kill ya.”, and I believe not to long afterwards we heard that one of the gals had actually died. Not knocking the show. But they did come up with some heart stopping recipes.

One thing the Brits do have going for them is that they (outside the big cities anyway) do a bit of walking from place to place. Makes for safe Pub hopping and such. I haven’t noticed the obesity issues there that we have on the rise here either. The wife is from a small northern town. When we visit, all the “Pub’n” is on foot. Good way to keep track of how drunk you’re getting. Not to mention as she puts it in a chant: “Walk some off for room for more!!”
