While much of British food can easily be criticized, I find a good British roast beef or roast lamb dinner with yorshire puddings, fresh gravy and vegetables, topped off with some rhubarb and custard hard to beat. Had one alongside Hadrian's Wall this past summer. It included fresh cooked leeks and a sticky pudding for dessert that I'm sure took a few months off my life.
