Maybe I can clear a few things up here. I`ve carried a Broadcast Engineers License for around 30 years now. Any screen will suffer burn in if left on one channel for a long time. If used around eight hours a day, the life span of a plasma or LCD is around 20 years. You can`t recharge a plasma with new "gas" nor will it need it. These sets run hot and if anything will fail, it will be the power supply.

If you really want a bang for your buck, pick up the $1299 Panasonic Plasma which is the top rated set. Then spend $600-$800 for a nice projector and screen for movies and you`re good to go. The projectors are hard to beat for movies and HD sports. The Optoma line is probably the best for the money. Hope this helps.
