Just a quick turkey frying note. Although putting the turkey in the fryer first would be safer, heating the oil would actually be better, and better for you. Cold oil will actually soak into the meat, causing your bird to be greasy, and not crispy and juicy. If you know how much oil your bird displaces you can fill the fryer with just the right amount of oil, and then heat it up and safely lower it into the hot oil.
