Max 3000 rpm with no power, followed by restart with normal operation sounds a lot like a malfunctioning MAF, but should occur with CEL and code PO100(?).

Limp home mode should be max 2nd gear.

You need a dealer quality scanner to see/clear the trans codes.

Have you checked the ATF level with the factory dip stick tool at 80C trans fluid temp to confirm it is properly filled and did you use the proper MB fluid?
