I think I read somewhere that Mercedes allows for two additional/replacement Smart Keys per vin code over the "life time" of the vehicle. Beyond that you have to have the whole ignition socket and matching Smart Key replaced by an authorized dealer, which cost alot more than just the key.....
Maybe someone can verify that?
