I agree with you about snapping the neck, but I have the same thoughts about someone riding in the back seat period. Very few W123s have rear-seat head rests. Like everyone here I am a perfect driver and would never run into anything, but the chances of getting rear-ended are significant, especially in a wagon with such dim tail lights.
