I have removed said pump with a 17mm stubby open wrench, there is a hex there somewhere, or was. I have also removed it with a pair of vise grips, as I was going to replace it anyway. It's on there, so be prepared to use some elbow grease. You shouldn't need to bleed any air out. Hope this helps. "Have fun in your garage"
