Just grab it with a vice grip and give it a good firm twist...it doesn't matter if you crush the body a little since you are throwing it out anyway. You can do the whole job in 5-10 minutes an not have to putz around with any special tools.

The only trick is, as I recall, there is a copper crush washer you need to replace but I believe the new one will come with it...just make sure you get the old one out first.
