I bought a 95 E300d new in 1994 and after putting 135,000 miles on it , I can say without a doubt that is the best car I've ever had.
The only repairs out of warranty have been: O-ring replacement on the fuel line after the cartridge filter (inex), engine mounts(inex), aux cooling fan($200 parts and labor), light bulbs, Serpentine belt and belt shock, coolant cap. The one expensive repair was to the transmission, which developed a leak at 90K. That cost $750.00 including parts and labor for a soft rebuild.
Considering the great cruising range and the solidity of the car, you can't go wrong, with the understanding that any car of this age is going to have problems over time.
