On my 1980 300SD, after numerous attempts at adjusting the band, from full out ot full in, still no reverse. I did feel light pressure at points while I adjusted, nothing substantial. At higher rpm's it starts to barely move forward.

Funny thing when it happened there was not one sound or sign. Just no reverse.

I am opening up the bottom to clean, change filter, inspect. Not really a transmission guy.

Could the band actually be broken here? Since it has so many miles and is dirty, could the servo or other internal system's be clogged? If the servo is broken or seal shot, what is the simple way to repair it?

Any help will really help.
