They make a little more power by way of less restriction. After reading a bunch about this and then tracking it on my BMW motorcycle which uses the same components as you are, I decided to remove them all and go back to the Oem filters in all of my stuff. They make the biggest difference in the diesels inmho. You could actually see particulates that were not evident with a good paper filter. I wouldn't do it if I were you.
