I have a 1989 Mercedes 190D,2.5 liter non turbo,I was told it has hydralic lifters and the valves are self adjusting,car has 290,000KM and it sounds like the valves are "ticking" but not all the time.Are the valves self adjusting?should I have it looked at by an other mechanic?
