Many people ask about putting a sub enclosure in a Mercedes. I would avoid so-called "free air" subs because they cannot produce the tight, deep, bass that a properly built box does. If a box is required that can be moved from one vehicle to another, I would strongly suggest the new Kicker, square Solobarik. A single 12" in a very small box will produce superb bass. If a box were to be built (correctly) by an experienced box builder for a Mercedes, I would humbly suggest a single 12" quality subwoofer in a bandpass box whose port rises from the top of the enclosure to just above the rear package shelf, delivering the bass INSIDE the car.
