I guess it is because there are fewer of them here, but Jews seem much less militant in the South. My Jewish friends are hard to identify as Jews unless you have been told and the local Jewish pre-school and kindergarten downtown is where a lot of the rich white protestant rednecks scramble to send their kids! My experiences farther north on the East Coast is that Jews are very cliquish and don't tend to have a lot of non-Jewish friends and that the Catholics seem to be predisposed to dislike them.
