Well after having the worn lower control arm bushings replaced, and the front flex discs, I STILL HEAR THE AGGRAVATING POPPING SOUNDS!
Is it possible that any of the 2 were not installed properly?
What ELSE could be making popping sounds?
I hear them only when I'm accelerating harder then normal, and I hear it at about 10 mph. It definitly comes from the front end, and I can feel the clunk in my feet (through vibration in floor). Otherwise, handling and everything else is wonderful. I have heard this (maybe also related to bushings and flex discs) for MONTHS now and I'm really sick of it!
I think I have ruled out transmission mounts; what about differential mounts?
Is it possible that the front flex disc may need re-torqueing? But I jsut can't visualize that needing to be done? Or is it possible that the lower control arm bushings might not be in right??
I dunno.... but I've had it with this popping sound!!!
Thanks a bunch.
(I'll probably take it back tomorrow and have them inspect the flex disc and the lower control arm bushings to rule those out.)
BTW, when checking, my mechanic said the rear flex disc was in good condition.
