You can soak overnight in a tub of B100, B20, or regular D2 and most of it will simply flush out. You can then use a flexible bottle brush or small wire brush to reach most of the other areas. For the stubborn stuff deep inside you can't reach with a brush, spray brake cleaner works pretty well - spray the inside liberally and let it soak for a while, then flush out. Your call as to when you reach the point of diminishing returns!

The big thing to worry about is any sensing connections off the manifold - overboost sensor, pressure port for alda, etc.. Pull these off and make sure they're cleaned out and open.

As far as the intake runners inside the cylinder head on the engine, I definitely agree not to try any chemical cleaning. If there are big chunks hanging that look like they'll be sucked inside a cylinder and cause problems, definitely get rid of those. Otherwise, most I'd dare attempt would be to stuff a shop towel down inside the runner (to prevent any crap from dropping down thru an intake valve into the cylinder), a light brushing to get rid of the worst, and blow out GENTLY with low pressure air before pulling the shop towel back out.
