The rattle is usually from the side of the air cleaner housing hitting the bracket on the valve cover. Install a rubber cushion of some sort between the housing and the bracket. (I used a piece of split heater hose, secured by one of the bracket bolts.)

Adjusting the governor idle pin on the injection pump might also help reduce the virbation level.
