The new catalyst (installed when the trap is removed) can tolerate fuel additives. I've been using Redline 85+ on a regular basis for over a year now with no ill effects. Only the trap oxidizer was sensitive to additives. I seriously doubt you would have any problems, even if you continued to use it. And I would defintely not drain the tank!

FWIW, I heard that RedLine called their new diesel additive "85 Plus" because it was designed for 1985 and newer Mercedes vehicles, with the catalysts in the exhaust system. I have a feeling it's perfectly safe. I'm not sure about the older RedLine diesel additive, which may have some of the particles mentioned.

If you're feeling like a rebel, you can always remove the catalyst from the exhaust completely and install a straight pipe in its place... :-)
