Okay I finally got a dry day where I didn't have to work or do holiday stuff to try this idea and it hasn't really helped at all. The car started a little better but the basic problem is the same and the idle is worse, although messing with the plastic mixture screw might help that. Still no way to rev the engine above 2000 in P and no way to drive it at all because you have to press on the gas too much to get it to move, the engine will all but die under anything more than a light touch on the pedal.
Thanks for the help and if anyone has other ideas I can use all the help I can get.
