If the pocket is just cracked vertically you can put a piece of metal tubing on the inside horizontally at the top edge. There is even two reinforcement ribs there that the tubing fits between. I used Ultra black silicone gasket cement and let it dry overnight. I used a piece of broken power antenna mast cut to about four inches for mine 5 years ago!
