I knew not to use the sunroof and told the rest of the family not to use it. I had ordered the special MB lubricant and was planning on lubing it once that came in. The rest of the family thought it was a hoot to drive with the sunroof open and did it when I was not around. Before the lube came in the sunroof no longer opened. (Not totally true. It would open about 1/8th and close with no problems.) I had declaired the car a non-sunroof model and told myself I would fix the sunroof in a year or two after everything else was fixed. Well, my wife hit the sunroof button while trying to turn the light on. Then I was stuck with a sunroof open 1/8th and would not close.

Just grab the front and kind of work it down. It bent the frame of the liner a bit but it is thin metal and I just bent it back. When I put it back in, the roof went back so it went in from the top. Good Luck.
Thanks for the note on how to do this if the sunroof will not open. I now have a slightly bent sunroof insert, sunroof headliner, but my sunroof is fully shut! The headliner is in my garage and will be there probably for a year or two until I get the sunroof fixed. grrr. That missing headliner may end up moving the repairs up to this spring.

Anyway, I can't figure out how to disable the sunroof so that it will stay shut. My fuse box does not list the sunroof motor. I can't find a way to put it in trunk crank only. The white knob on the side of the motor does not seem to change anything. Any ideas?
