I believe that in 1991 Mercedes used either alpine or pioneer changers in their cars. I know BMW did this as my friend has a 1991 525IA BMW with the factory radio and changer, and his changer is a pioneer.) I would look at the changer magazine then check alpine and pioneer's websites to see if the magazine matches one of theirs (You will probably want to check the replacement cartridges they sell.)

If its an alpine then I would try to find out if it is compatible with newer alpine head units.

If its a pioneer changer, then you probably wont be able to use it with the alpine unit.

I'm not sure if they make cable converters to hook up different brand changers to different brand head units, but they might.

I could be totally wrong here, but if I remember correctly they used one of those two brands in their cars, though it depended on the model of the car too.

Hope that helps.

Alon
