Long time no post!

I wonder if anyone knows this - what is the cost of a rebuild of the differential in a 16v 190e? I have heard some say that it is up to $1500-2000 but do not understand why - are they unique or particularly special?

What about for a 2.5-16 which is what I have. Mine has the ASD - does that mean it is the same diff as in a 300E with ASD, and if so how much does it cost to rebuild one of these? Is it more because of the ASD, I am hoping it would be less because it's a more 'mainstream' component borrowed from the W124.
