Smile Brake lights on after ignition

Hey guys...
Before I get started, I want all y'all who live in and around Houston to consider Benz by Blair for all those things that you'd rather have a mechanic do. Chuck, owner and head dude, knows a ton of things about the 123s and other older MBs. He adjusted the valves and changed the oil in my 82 300d turbo. The valves cost $70 + gasket and paid $30 for the oil change. He also adjusted my throttle linkage and "calibrated" the ALDA for nothing. The car runs AWESOME now. Almost forget it's a diesel. FYI, he moved to the other side of Hwy59, on 5629 Star Ln. BP is 713.334.2369. Thanks again to TXBill for the tip.

And now for the Q.
After following the instructions on how to fix the odometer on one of these threads,(it worked!) I put the cluster back in the car and for some reason, the brake wear and parking brake indicator lamps turn on and stay on until you rev the engine up to about 1500. While this takes place, the lights are also dim (sucking in some amps i suppose) After you rev up a bit, they go out and all is fine. Also, does anybody know if I can reach the outside air flap from where the instrument cluster sits?

Thanks Guys....
Pat
