I just went and saw a Good Condition '78 300d Mercedes.
It won't start, The battery died on it. The owner said the battery that came with it, when he bought the car died when it got cold, so he bought a new battery 6 months ago, and it died again when it got cold.. What do you think it could be?
The car also leaks oil from somewhere in th middle of the car. Rear seal maybe?
He is trying to sell it for $500, but I think I can talk him down to 3 or 4. The car is Beautiful outside and inn.
I was wanting to convert it to WVO and Bio. Is that a good car to do it on?
Please let me know, you guys are very brilliant!
Best Wishes,

Hi Charan, I would not buy it untill I here it run. of course the flip side of that is, if fit is in the condition you say it is, parts are worth that.
Oil leaks are common and can be addressed if they are too bad. middle of the car sounds like it may just be a valve cover leaking. That will be replaced anyway when you do your first valve adjustment and general maint. upon getting the car.
This car is probably one of
thee best cars to convert. But don't jump too quick converting it. Take time to learn this car and find out if it is going to work for you before spending the money to convert. Converting cost alot more than just the price of the parts or kit. You also need alot of space/time/equipment to collect and filter oil, and a processor on top of
that if you want to make biodiesel. If by chance you do not decide to buy it, post it here and maybe someone else will want it. good luck and keep us informed
