The 300E 2.8 has the same M104 engine found in the C280 from 1994-1997.

It has more hp and torque compared to the 300E, but I don't know how noticeable the power difference is.

If it has the same rear end as the 1993 300E (3.2) / 1994-1995 E320, then it would have a higher 4th gear ratio, thus lower rpm's when cruising on the highway, resulting in better gas mileage.
