I had a '70 Olds Toro GT. That was the W34 optioned Toronado. It gave her an additional 25 horsepower from the 455 by using larger intake valves, a performance cam and a higher stall speed torque converter similar to a W30 442 option in a rear drive Olds. The compression ratio is 10.25:1. The final drive ratio is 3.07:1. 400hp and 510ft/lbs tq. Only made 5,341. Never deemed that collectible because of the FWD and you can still find a good example for $9K. Uglier than the '66-67 pop up headlight car, but better drivetrain imo.

I could burn a nice wheel, 20-30 feet. It did the 1/4 mile in mid 15's and 0-60 in 7.5 secs. Not bad for a tank. A Performer series Edelbrock carb and intake would have improved those #'s a bit.

Summer of '02, another driver didn't yield his left, so I ended up smashing her up. His car was a rental Grand Prix and in very sorry shape. The insurance co have me a fair $ and I got the car back. Olds nuts went crazy when I announced via the Old Club America and Toro Chapter the car was ready to part out. Sent parts out all the way to Alaska.

You probably read about it, but I can't help but reminisce.
That's a cool story, except for the part about being hit while driving it. The 1.4 mile time is pretty awesome, considering how heavy those cars were.

Dr. Olds would have been proud.
