Don't know. Maybe because its a van and too commercial?
I'm all for the Sprinter chassis with the OM612: An engine I'd already know enough about coming from a 60x background. I'd rather conserve fuel than worry about power. But that is for business ventures. In any other case, I'd drive my W126's for long distances, and ideally have a 124 or 123 for short jaunts locally (which I rarely do, hence why I have none).
SUV's should not even exist today. There is no need for such large vehicles other than to waste our non-renewable resources. A mid-size station-wagon with a 3rd seat should suffice nicely in any people moving circumstance.
A 210 Mercedes E-Class wagon can seat 7 passengers, adults of medium size, comfortably and still return 24 - 25 mpg at 70 - 75 mph. And that is in a wagon with the gasser engine M112 V6.
IMHO, the 210 wagon is the best deal on the market today. And it is actually ENJOYABLE to drive.
